Jenson Button

One of the bigger stories circulating recently has been the horrible lack of performance by Jenson Button over the past couple of races.  At the end of Canada, after being lapped as Hamilton marched to victory, Button described himself as completely lost.  As Button himself stated, however, he is not 2 seconds slower than Hamilton.  So what gives?

Button attributes his lack of performance to an inability to his now rocky relationship with Pirelli’s product (I am sure there are some wonderful relationship metaphors to put in this space but I can’t think of them right now).  Martin Whitmarsh has come out to say that these problems can be attributed to his relative lack of running on Friday.

More interesting to me, however, is how Jenson responds.  This is the first time since his 2009 championship that he has been as off the pace.  Hopefully he will be able to pick himself up when he does get a proper set up on Fridays.  Then again this might also be the beginnings of a trend.  Something to keep a closer eye on.
