As the F1 summer recess continues on, teams are taking the time to reflect back on their seasons, like Ferrari’s Pat Fry. He has admitted that the wet weather has given Ferrari a chance to stay in the championship hunt. He recalls that two of Ferrari’s three wins have seen wet weather in either the race or qualifying.

The other, somewhat embarrassing, piece of news comes from Venezuela. Pastor Maldonado and the Williams team took advantage of their break to head over to Caracas where the demonstration was scheduled. Unfortunately, Maldonado was caught out by the bumpy surface, spun and crashed. Oops.
Finally, Ross Brawn, of Mercedes, came out with a somewhat disturbing quote. He said that the current Mercedes challenger will prove a good basis for next year’s car. I must admit that I am a bit disturbed. While Mercedes has made strides from last year, the team still has tire problems that have not been truly eliminated in any iteration.
