Jenson Button takes Pole at Spa

Jenson Button put down a magnificent lap in Q2 and never looked back.  More interesting, however, was who he led home, Kamui Kobayashi and Pastor Maldonado.  Sergio Perez was fifth and the other name carrying great expectations was Kimi Raikkonen.  He lines up fourth.

The full, unofficial grid.  Recall that Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg have five place gearbox penalties coming.  I have not factored these penalties into the provisional grid.

  1. Button
  2. Kobayashi
  3. Maldonado
  4. Raikkonen
  5. Perez
  6. Alonso
  7. Webber
  8. Hamilton
  9. Grosjean
  10. Di Resta
  11. Vettel (never had the pace)
  12. Hulkenberg
  13. Schumacher
  14. Massa
  15. Vergne
  16. Ricciardo
  17. Senna
  18. Rosberg
  19. Kovalainen
  20. Petrov
  21. Glock
  22. de la Rosa
  23. Pic
  24. Karthikeyan

Things are shaping up for another fantastic race with all of the top five yet to win a race this season.
